Highlights of President’s Report
Highlights August 2006 – December 2007:
– Obtained approval as a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization from the IRS in October 2006
Substantial financial contributions made to the school over last 18 months totaling over
US$24,000
Received pledges from 4 members to donate JA$8 million (US$70,000) over 5 years
– Excellent relationship with new Chairman, Hon. R. Danvers (Danny) Williams who was the guest
speaker at the Annual Dinner in June 2007
– Donations of books from the Miami Dade College were made to the school’s library
– Soccer tournament between JC and St. Georges Alumni for the Dennis Zaidie Memorial Trophy in
April 2007
Support for the Dennis Zaidie Memorial from the American Black Caucus
– Second Annual Dinner was held in June 2007
– Toy drives for Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital held in December 2006 and 2007
– Family Fun Days held at Markham Park in October 2006 and 2007
– Approved changes to By-Laws to broaden participation
– Reduced annual dues from $75 to $50
– Recognition of need to improve communication with members

– Improve communication with and between members

– Provide opportunity for members to make financial contributions through monthly pledges charged to
credit cards
