Jamaica College Old Boys Associations World-Wide Will Start a 30-Day Giving Campaign in October

Floreat Collegium, Fervet Opus In Campis; May the College Flourish, Work is burning in the field

One College is a 30-day giving campaign that is a collaboration of all the JCOBA chapters and the JC Foundation, that is driven by the needs of the school for the academic year, and integrated with the school’s programme.  The target of JMD107 million is intended to resource the institution to fulfil its mission.

Our Mission is to enable our students to become outstanding well-rounded citizens, leaders and gentlemen of distinction who excel in their chosen areas of endeavour.

Through One College, we wish to return to the top of the table for sports, and to achieve a pass rate of 95% for CSEC and City & Guild examinations.  This will be achieved by supporting the following programmes:

  1. Academic:
    1. Teacher Development Fund: To fund activities for professional and personal development of the teachers to improve their instruction for improved learning and academic results.
    2. Teacher Incentive Programme: To reward teachers for the quality of the students’ performance.
    3. Teach Top-Up Programme: To offer better compensation to our teachers.

     

  2. Return of the Trophies: To return the following trophies to Jamaica College
    • Manning Cup
    • Olivier Shield
    • ISSA Boys Championship

     

Our Goals… Our goals are to contribute to returning the sport trophies/shields to 189 Old Hope Road and to advance in the CXC/CSEC Ranking.

All JC old boys of the college are members of the association and eligible to vote at the AGM. To be a board officer requires membership in good standing. Membership in good standing requires the payment of dues. The dues are currently $25.00 per year. We ask for your participation as JC needs your support.

Jamaica College Golf Tournament Offers $500 Prize to the Non-JC School Team with Lowest Score

Blue Links Classic Donates 500 to Non-JC School Alumni

The Jamaica College Old Boys Association of Florida’s Blue Links Classic Golf Tournament to be held at the prestigious Jacaranda Golf Club in Plantation, Florida on Saturday, May 14, 2022, will donate $500 to the school or alumni association of the school whose Non-JC School Team posts the lowest score amongst registered Non-JC School Teams.

The $500 is being given to provide an opportunity for another school to benefit from the funds raised from the Blue Links Classic tournament.

A Non-JC School Team is any 4-golfer team whose members include at least 2 past students of the school. The other members of the team can be guests, but the team must include at least 2 past students of the school.

Below are the instructions to register a Non-JC School Team for the tournament.

  1. Register the 4-golfer team on the tournament website (https://bluelinksgolf.com/register)
  2. Include the name of the school in the team name when registering the golfers
  3. After registering the team send an email to bluelinksjc@gmail.com and include in the email:
    1. The name of the school
    2. The names of the past students
    3. The names of the other golfers in the team (if any)

N.B. A team can only be registered for one school!!

Jamaica College Alumni Association Hosts Golf Tournament in Florida - May 14th 2022

The Jamaica College Old Boys Association of Florida (JCOBAFL) will hold the First Annual Blue Links Classic Golf Tournament on May 14, 2022, at the Jacaranda Golf Course in Plantation, Florida. The charity event will be organized in a Four-Person Best Shot (Scramble) format. Proceeds from the event will go toward supporting the young men currently enrolled at Jamaica College. The JCOBAFL invites golfers of all experience levels to have fun while they test their skills, knowing that their participation helps the students at JC, unifies the community, and strengthens its ties to the school.

“We are excited to have  our First Annual Blue Links Classic event here in South Florida and looking forward to the community showcasing their golf skills at this fundraising effort,” said Xavier Murphy, president of the JCOBAFL, “We are looking forward to creating a brighter future for the students in Jamaica that we will support from the funds raised.”

Proceeds from this event will go to the JCOBAFL Scholarship Fund with additional funds going towards operational expenditures at Jamaica College

Lunch – After their round, players will be treated to a catered lunch by the Jacaranda Golf Course catering team at The Palm Room.
